Hey guys,

So most of you know I've been getting into the videogame scene over the last few years -- mostly through this Hand Eye Society collective I helped start. It's an amazingly energetic community and full of super-talented and super-nice folks.

What you may not know is what kind of games these people make. They're not all first person shooters or sports games. The Toronto games I've curated for tonight's Nuit Blanche event feature ladyscientists, snot-spitting green pigs, ambient orbs and weird landscapes. Everytime I get an excuse I sit people down and show them these games, because they're amazing, fun and beautiful:

...and tonight you can play them on old-school arcade cabinets.

If I haven't sat you down yet, or even if I have, you should think about coming tonight! It's at the TIFF Bell Lightbox at King and John in the atrium, from sundown to sunup. At midnight we're having a Nidhogg tournament with the hilarious Jonah Hundert as a ringside announcer. It's 8-bit fencing under a giant chandelier. It's bloodsport for nerds. It's NIDHOGG!

Also, post-event we will be looking for places to host the extra cabinets we've made. If you know of any places (bars? art spaces?) that would be up for having a cabinet of Toronto indie games available for free play to the public, let me know ASAP.

Jim
